LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) -- A Walt Disney World patron on a ride with her grandson found a loaded gun on her seat, officials said Wednesday.
Officials said that the woman found the pistol on the Dinosaur ride at Animal Kingdom. The woman turned over the loaded weapon to a park attendant, who then contacted her manager and authorities.
The gun's owner, Angelo Lista, told authorities he discovered his gun was missing several minutes after leaving the ride. He has a concealed weapons permit.
Lista told authorities he didn't know Disney World patrons weren't allowed to bring guns. He said he thought the security checkpoint at the entrance to the Florida theme park was only so that guards could check bags for bombs or explosives. Patrons do not walk through metal detectors nor are they subject to patdowns.
Disney World prohibits patrons from bringing weapons of any kind on its property.
Can the government guarantee the safety of me and my family at all times?
Does the government provide an agent , or agents, to bodyguard me and mine?
Does the constitution, knowing the limits of government , allow me at least the best chance at providing the protections that they cannot?
Does anyone that runs into a threat , be it at an eatery, movie theatre, school, or perhaps sacred Disneyland.... ever say they saw it all coming?
no, not once, not ever
Is it true that when seconds count, the police are only a half hour away?
i'm not asking for anyone to provide security for me and mine... nor am I expecting that anyone is doing that job... but I do appreciate the freedom to make the choice to do so if I see fit...
making something "illegal" only means that those who have no regard for the laws will be doing it... drugs are illegal, so with the logic that illegal status bans things from being or happening, obviously there is no drug problem, and nobody has access to illegal drugs of any kind, right?
i'm sure that the sheeple that are afraid of everything they don't know how to use, be it a snow blower or a firearm, can argue endlessly about faith in government to provide all for them and family.... but the founding fathers of this democracy knew of limitations that would never be overcome or provided via even the best of governments... and they took care of that when they wrote our constitution as a free people... what they cant provide for in safety, they at least want you to be able to provide for yourself... god forbid it may take a little learning, training, practice to become proficient at something so important...
the government will let you eat foods humans should never consume.... drink and drive from every bar.... dump waste into the very water that makes this planet what it is... don't bet your life , or your families lives on the absurd assumption that they are watching out for you personally... what you can bet on is that there are plenty of people in this world that will take what they want, children, life, cash, posessions... unless somebody can stop them.... and no, i'm not paranoid and I don't believe everyone is out to get me or mine.... I do believe there is a gradient to things you need but do not have, and the consequence gradient.... if a situation arrives where I need a screwdriver, my driver license, a spare tire, or my keys...and I do not have them... that is an inconvenience.... if there is a situation where the tool I need is a firearm, and I do not have one, then life is forever changed...
the illogical posess super human power in the art of argument... since by nature they are immune to the sting of logic, they can carry on the fight long after the reasoning man would have succumbed
