I thought that when hotels did this, they simply skipped 13 in the numbering of the floors. So, you might be staying in room 1408 (with John Cusak?) but you're really on the 13th floor.

There is a lacquered wooden statue of Buddha in the lobby of the California Hotel and Casino in downtown Las Vegas. It's a Japanese superstition that rubbing the Buddha's stomach is good luck. Over the years, the lacquer has been rubbed off his tummy, his nose and his nipples.

Of course you know that bringing lava home from Hawai'i is REALLY bad luck, but did you know that you never carry pork in your car over the Pali Highway on O'ahu? Doing so causes your automobile to stop at a certain point on the way and it won't restart until the pork is removed from the vehicle. Some versions of the story require the pork to be raw; other versions say that this happens after dark.

The only superstition that I follow is the one that says not to have a green motorcyle, it's bad luck. I don't know about the luck part, but the green motorcycle I had seldom went anywhere without a small breakdown. Since then, they've all been red, a lucky color. Maybe.

Heres the One I like. Never Enter a House Threw One Door, and Leave Threw Another. Ha I Love that One. I Do it All the Time. , They Both have the Same Locks.

Plus Living Next to That; Little Family of Grays' . They Take; Care of the Neighborhood Strays, I Have Not Seen Any Rodents, . They Are Such Nice Aliens. I Would Not Move Away From Them At Any Price!!!!!. I REALLY Like Their Little; RAY GUNS.. They Just Love Me But, One Neighbor, Left Town You Might Say. Nobody Has Seen Them.? HUH.

Just because a hotel floor isn't numbered as 13, doesn't mean that it still isn't the 13th floor of the building...

My grandmother was from Sicily and was very superstitious. When I went on a field trip to the Haeger Pottery Factory, I purchased an adorable little owl that matched the decor in her living room. When I flew out to vist her, I tried to give the owl to her as a gift. She made that sign that head bangers usually make at rock concerts with their hands and spit three times. She said she was sorry but she couldn't accept the little statue. Evidently, owls are considered very bad luck. I believe my grandmother said that they were messengers of death. The owl continues to live in a box in my shed.
