J.Q.Adams was Sec. of State under James MONROE not Madison and the purchase price basically was give it to us or we'll take it.  The purchase "price" was principally to forgo monetary claims against the government of Spain.

Yeah, it was George Herbert Walker Bush that wanted to get "tourism" going to become a big thing in the United States.  So his blind trust buys up Hotels, Motels, Banks, Oil Companies, and presto,........ watch the gasoline prizes rise and they haven't stopped yet.  The he starts his internationalism crap, a spin off from Jimmy Carter days, backed by David A. Rockerfeller and presto.  We're all screwed.  Now the average working joe can hardly afford a trip to the local grocery store.
