You can also take a walk anywhere in the Columbia River Gorge and see the results of an outpouring of lava.   The basaltic cliffs are amazing.

I love Lassen!  Every time I go there I find places I haven't gone before.  And the Devastated Area has changed over the 58 years I've been going there.  Crater Lake--There are places to hike that are out of the way where you'll meet noone and just enjoy the quiet, like Crater Peak.  Take a good mosquito repellant.  On the other hand, take the boat ride and climb to the top of Wizard Island.  At Newberry, take in Lava River Cave.  Go early in the day before a lot of people are there and take time to go to the end of the cave.  Craters of the Moon!  I usually stop there coming back from Yellowstone, but it's worth seeing  for itself.  Cinder cones, spatter cones, lava flows (with chunks of cinder cone that were floated out and left in the middle of the lava field), lava tubes.  Mono Craters you missed.  Take in the Lake and the tufa towers as well, and go to Bodie.  And in the middle of Nevada, along US 6, Lunar Crater Volcanic Field.

Come on !!!  Raid your piggy bank and spend your next vacation at Yellowstone or another of the popular national parks.  One day it will be too late.

If you haven't been to Yellowstone, go in winter.  It's absolutely breathtaking...

I can not believe this does not include the Valles Caldera just west of Los Alalmos New Mexico. It is by far one of the most significant volcanic areas in the world.
