My family and I had the privelege of visiting The Alamo a couple years ago. I was impressed with the reverance this place is viewed with still in these modern times. It's very quiet inside the barracks and especially the church. Santa Anna deserved the end he got. Killing him would have been easy. As it was, he died minus the respect of even his countrymen, tho he is revered to a degree today. He was as arrogant as he was vain, traveling with things like good china while his men lived the life of 'normal' military men. And he had no regard at all for human life. This is a great place to vacation, and dont forget the riverboat rides!

Infamous battlefields? Almost too many to mention. Pearl Harbor, Midway, Chosen Reservoir, Battle of Bull Run, Battle of Stalingrad, Iwo Jima, Tarawa, Guadalcanal, Saipan, Garapan, Tulagi, Cold Harbor, Jutland, Tsushima Staits, Battle of Kursk just to mention a few but the most "infamous" of all, and some may not see it as a battlefield but those who were at these sites would see it differently, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Belicose humans, it's amazing that we still exist on this planet.

If you look up the word "infamous" the second definition means" brought into infamy " which I take as something that will always be remembered and should never be forgotten ie "held in our deepest memory as something that changed our lives forever"--- I paraphrase FDR when he said" December 7,1941 (the bombing of Pearl Harbor) is a day that will live in infamy"--the same can be said about September 11,2001 -so I don't see it as an injustice using the word since the battle sites they chose actually were sites that affected peoples lives -not saying that other less known battlefields are any less important
