Waikiki is just as bad as South Beach. Wall to wall tourists in tacky floral shirts and ugly, white, hairy legs jutting nobbily from kahki,baggy,ill-fitting shorts. .....and that's the women!! Enough pick-pockets, rip-off artists and junkies to twice stock New York City. Retreat to one of the smaller, less spoiled islands. Stay far away from Maui however. Everything there is over-priced by 300%.

Stockholm is absolutely the best place I have ever visited. I have recommended this as a destination to anyone who cares to listen. It is a place with something for everyone...clean, friendly, fun, with a lot to see and do. I would only caution that I lost track of time during the summer months because there is no "night" and my sleep schedule (or lack thereof) was something that interfered to a minor degree with my ability to schedule excursions

WTF? The key factor separating Thailand and Costa Rica is child prostitution? Uh, has this author ever been to either place? Totally different cultures, totally different destinations, how can anyone even compare them? Both great places to visit, but couldn't be more different from each other. And if you're going to tell people not to visit Thailand because it has child prostitution, then you better tell them to avoid the U.S. After all, we also have child prostitution, plus a huge problem with gun crimes, excessive incarcerations, etc. What a ridiculous basis for a suggestion.

While I believe this writer is a cheapskate, I do not disagree with all his suggestions. BUT, Mazatlan versus Cancun? Mazatlan is NOT American friendly, they are a family destination for Mexicans and other South Americans, not the US. They are rude, subpar, and I never felt safe for a second. And of course, we stayed at what was labled a four stare resort, yeah, right.
