Radical Roller Coasters: Fastest

For those of you who like your thrills in hyperdrive, here's a rundown of the world's fastest steel roller coasters, which hurtle downhill at speeds worthy of the Autobahn. We'll start with the slowest, and move on to roller coasters that run at astonishing speeds.

YouTube SEARCH:  Mieders Alpine Coaster No Brakes   ( several of these things around Europe...you'll see the links ) Very long rides in little 1-2 person carts weaving down mountainsides in & out of the treeline.  Cameras take you along for the rider's perspective.    I like roller coasters, but THESE are sometin' else.....

I was just told that Cedar Point was closing. Seems that nobody wanted their kids near Sandusky.

We live about 3 hours from CP and have been going every year, for more than 35 years. If you like coasters, this is the place. With some research and a little luck, you can find a day that the crowds are thin. We've had several visits when the lines for the major rides were less than 45 minutes, and some of the older, but still exciting rides, were less than 10 minutes. Top Thrill Dragster is well worth the wait, regardless of the time it takes to get on.

Love how Intamin, AG in conjunction with Cedar Fair, developed the technology for hydraulically launched strata coasters (initially with XCELERATOR The Ride at Knotts Berry Farm and culminating with Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point)... only to then use that technology with Cedar Fair's biggest competitor for a coaster 36 feet taller... complete with all the lessons learned from Dragster (and there were plenty).  Must not hold too much of a grudge... they built another Intamin coaster at CP in 2005 (Maverick).

When I was a kid the Blue Streak at Cedar Point was the big deal. Now there are so many great ones and Millenium Force is one of them. They keep adding great coasters at Cedar Point every few years.

Nothing like Cedar Point if you want to ride alot of the best coasters in the world, Thrill seekers must go there atleast once. Been there many times.
