Why isn't the St Paul Winter Carniva in Minnesota listed? It is only the nations oldest and largest winter festival, having been going every year since 1885. The writers and editors need to do a better job vetting what sites they end up including and OMITTING when they publish these articles.

Ice Sculptures, amazing. I applaud the artists that can create such beauty from ice.

If I ever have the luck to attend an ice festival..... You bet I will.

Michigan Technological University has had an amazing Winter Carnival for decades.  Massive snow sculptures, all built by hand, many requiring 1.000's of man-hours over 5 weeks of brutal weather.  On the night before judging, the entire campus pulls an all-nighter.  A full week of other special events and lots of partying, of course.  Check it out @mtu.edu.

PS.  The Plymouth,MI festival is also spectacular.  The really intricate pure-ice sculptures are carved by culinary students and pros.

This is an amazing must see event (Fairbanks, Alaska).  I have had the good fortune of seeing it twice and participating as a sculptor on one occasion.  Beautiful sculptures and beautiful people from all over the world!

The World Ice Art Championships in Fairbanks Alaska are one of the most amazing displays of sculpting talent I have ever seen. The sculptures are HUGE with very fine detail. There was so much to see and do, I would love to go there again.
