A dot for every person
One awesome cartography nerd made a population dot map based on the U.S. and Canadian censuses.

Have you ever wondered what a dot map of the U.S. and Canada would look like, with every census-recorded person represented by a black pinpoint? OK, me neither, but this amazing illustration of the country's population sure makes me glad someone else was curious.
This screenshot of the map is cool enough (prints will apparently be available for purchase soon), but to truly appreciate the scope of Brandon Martin-Anderson's project, you've got to click that link and zoom way in to the neighborhood level. It's marvelous.

It's marvelous.A little less invasive than Google's street view, and no less cool.
