Abraham Lincon owned slaves for himself at his wifes request.

What does that tell you America?

The South nearly had the Civil War won:

Whats that tell you America?

The ecomomy of the United States was in shambles after the Civil War just like today:

What does that tell you America?

Next year at this same time just ask yourself  is the United States better off or worse because of a "black man."

Then ask what does that tell you American?

President Lincoln should have followed his first instinct and sent the freed black slaves back to Africa.  This is not to be harsh, but that would have been best for all concerned.  That is where they came from, the life they like and identify with and would have saved the blacks and whites a whole heck of a lot of grief.  Why in God's name blacks in this country are not thrilled that they are here rather than in some African slum is amazing.

I agree with another above...I love being white and sorry for the rest of you.

I'm still waiting for Norweigen/Swedish history month....hmmmmm
It's not "Black" history. It's American history. It's the story of who we are as a people; the good, the bad and the ugly. 10% of us are not the descendents of people who came here to be free. They came here as slaves and for hundreds of years some have fought to transcend that injustice and some are still steeped in the same ignorance that has stained our national heritage from the beginning.
Today we are as divided as in any time in our history and, indeed, the moral imperatives are as clear as they have ever been. Justice is for all or it is for none. It is something we strive for or does not exist in any meaningful way. And, indeed, for as long as we have been a nation, it is the struggle that has defined us.
