10 best places to watch storms on the West Coast

My wife and I stayed at Inn at Discovery Coast in Long Beach, WA, now that is the place to go! It is real close to all the good stuff and right on the beach, Cool!

There is no place more beautiful than the ocean beaches, storm watching is fabulous, beach combing after a storm might yield you some real treasures!  I've lived & worked in Long Beach, Washington, we go there 2 or 3 times a year for the fresh air, to watch & hear the breakers coming in.  West Port is also great!  Been there when the waves were breaking over the rocks, scary but fascinating!  The Oregon Coast is our favorite place to go,  it's beauty just can't be paralled to anyplace else!  The Pacific Northwest is the greatest!  I've left the Northwest many times & always "come back home."  If we could have found a home to buy we would have moved to the ocean last fall, but moved to the Olympic Peninsula, very close to the Straits of Juan De Fuca. 

 If you've never been to the beach during a storm, it's a real experience.  Go do it!  Enjoy a storm over dinner & glas of wine in one fo the many waterfront restaurants, or a nice motel on the beach cuddled up in front of a nice fire watching a storm.  What a memorable trip!!

the Quileute "ONCE" plied these turbulent waters??!!!???!!!  they still do to this day among many coastal tribes, This summer for the annual ceremonial canoe journey, the "paddle to Quinault" is passing right through here.

Aces123123 you obviously know NOTHING about the West Coast, so why would you even make a comment?? We don't have hurricanes out here,like Katrina,etc. We have storms, that are actually beautiful and amazing to watch from a beach front restaurant, as you are eating your dinner in front of a plate glass window. NOT dangerous at all or put anyone at risk in any way,shape or form! lol  your missing out on something very beautiful, by being so close minded... just sayin'

Beautiful article and pictures...but.. .you completely left out Half Moon Bay at Westport, WA.  If you have ever been there during a high tide winter storm, you'd never forget it. The spray and sometimes the waves come right  over your head as you stand on the jetty rocks. Many times there are huge timbers being washed into the rocks over and over. It magnifies natures' power at her best!!   I've been to Tofino, Neah Bay, Ocean Shores, Long Beach and Cannon Beach.  The Half Moon Bay Jetty has more ferocity; you had better hold on or be blown over.
