Meteor showers around the year

From December's Geminids to August's Perseids, meteor showers make beautiful, sparkling shows in night skies.

jay203 "evolution and the big band theory is what is it ... a theory.   all the experts, scientists and educated people has not found any link, but still spending money on something they rather believe than facing the truth."

But God has been proven time and again...? So I don't need proof of God but science needs to prove to you God doesn't exist?

I'm supposed to consider your point of view as intelligent and take it seriously yet you lump in "educated people" with folks you are clearly stating you are not a part of? (not to mention your spelling and overall belief.)

I'm not denying there is a creator of all things. Although, could it have been a some being experimenting in his lab with vials of time and space twisting them just the right way? Why not? Seems as reasonable as any other guess.

What happens in a black hole? Space and time are compressed into an incredibly small, compressed point.

What has been said for nearly a century (1931) about the Big Bang? It came from the "explosion of the primeval atom." (Incidentally, that person was Monseigneur Georges Lemaître, a Belgian Catholic Priest) Are black holes creating alternate universes?

Who knows?

No one. It is doubtful any civilization will ever learn absolute facts of the event.

Although, if someone has a few million years head start up the evolution ladder, its hard to consider where their technology would lead them.

I was fortunate to be watching the night sky in the early hours some years ago while in Mobile, Alabama. What appeared to be a large, flaming aircraft arching across the sky, turned out to be a large "Bolide", and lit up the sky like a giant torch. Remarkable sight.
Why are people saying this full moon is a "Blue Moon"?  I thought a blue moon was the second of two moons in a single month.  Who is correct?

RE: Jim H SC   Jim you need to be more careful...your brain was showing and in this day and age that is a no-no! You are supposed to be some sort of knuckle dragging thing who answers in grunts and whose main objective in life is not to see the beauty and wonder in the solar system, galaxy, universe, etc, you are to be concerned with your own little 'world'  that only you can see. Sorry, but it irks me when someone has to add their own agenda, off topic, just to be heard. Hope you enjoy the meteor showers, I myself plan to go out into the desert where there are no lights and contemplate the miracle of creation and later ponder why an all knowing and all seeing supreme being created beings in his image who cannot enjoy what He created. Hope you enjoy the show!

Looking at the night sky is always enjoyable as you never know what you might see. When I was very young we would go to my uncle's resort in northern Wisconsin where there were no lights at night. The number of meteors crashing into the atmosphere or bouncing off of it back into space or incalculable, with so much light pollution now we can't see that beauty or marvel at the majesty of it all. It makes you realize that what mankind seems to know is not much at all. Just look at the changes that Einstein made to Sir Isaac Newton's law of gravity or the observances of Galileo. Look at the black holes where of course nothing can escape, then comes Stephen Hawking which says matter does escape. The matter seems like it's merely repurposed or changed, and of course was not forget the dark matter that seems to hold the universe in place. Are the black holes like volcanoes on earth where the continental shelves collide with one subverting the other pushing it down into the molten magma eventually erupting and creating new land?

We were talking about something beautiful and well .......the conversation went there.  Some people just cant leave blaming others alone......... they need to be taken to the wood shed for a proper cleansing .  And by the way using their proper names would be nice ( correct spelling too) . I never did understand how so few individuals were able to upset folks so much. It must be the water that's the problem or the moon shine. It is HFT to leave bashing out of a topic like this.

Anyway I do look forward to a beautiful display in the heavens. A fantastic way to celebrate life and being here

Our Universe, all the Planets and Earth in it, is very unique, Galaxies far, far away, has many Planets objects, Asteroids and Meteors bumping and crashing into each other. But our Solar System very amazing, so organized, if there is a better word than Perfect I would use it. We should consider ourselves lucky, we are here on Earth that been around for millions of years and still provides all what life needs. I don't worry about Earth with the pollution and contaminations we create on it, I worry about us, withstanding Earth actions when it is ready to clean and fix itself. We are just small specs in the universe, little sticks on earth. When the Earth shuffle itself inside out, we'll be gone in minutes, and New microbes, bacteria, or organisms living way down under the Oceans near the center of the Earth will rise up to the top and take new form of life.. I am not sure I want to live for ever, but sure wish I could be here in just one thousand years. I would love to see what kind of Species would be walking the Earth, or what kind of atmosphere would this Globe have.
