A poultry trifecta for the holidays

Tired of serving up the same old Butterball for Thanksgiving? Turducken — a chicken stuffed inside a duck that’s stuffed inside a turkey — is just the thing to cure the holiday’s culinary doldrums.

A turducken is a great Christmas gift for people, too.  Just be sure that you somehow warn then that something prerishable will be coming and that they'd best be home.  Usually you're told what day the turducken is to arrive at the person's house so you can tell them.  Saves getting out in the crowds and trying to find something someone likes.  Most everyone likes to eat.

Some people have liked them and others don't want them again.  (Not that I'd buy them twice for one person, anyway.)

I'm thinking the "Pig Turducken" on a rotisserie would be pretty interesting.

I haven't tried Turducken but it's ironic that Ducks love Chicken nuggets. I used to work at a place where we served free Chicken Finger meals to the customers twice a week. The leftovers always got fed to the ducks, which I felt was just wrong! The Turducken also reminds me of a story I read in a magazine called Night Cry. Various thriller and horror tales would fill each volume. One was about a man that spent his life trying to prepare a meal for the Devil. It involved him stuffing a cranberry inside a humming bird and the list of birds that worked their way up to a vulture, I think. Anyway, it turned out to be a prank after all. Someone in High School had hazed the guy into believing he had made this deal with the Devil. He finally got the meal made and waited for the Devil to show up and eat it. It was very sad, but I think whoever came up with the Turducken read that story.

I've personally had this item & to me it was hard to gag down. I don't care for it nor do I like it. Just why you might ask? While I'm going to  tell you. I know for a fact that another chicken will peck on another chicken. Even to the point of pecking the other's eyes out. I helped out on my grandfather & grandmother's farm when I was young. And, while what the chickens did  may sound & is gross. That's just the half of it. I once had a pet duck. I was out digging worms for it one day when my dog came into the yard to take a crap. Picture this, here's my dog squatting down taking a crap & before his turd even hits the ground, that duck snapped it up & swallowed it down, whole. I got a strong stomach & didn't even retch. But, any other person I think, after seeing that would probably be puking their guts out.

I know that when a duck is cooked right, it's skin is crisp & delicious, the meat is all dark meat & it's kind of greasy as well. But, how would you like to eat a chicken that pecked the another chicken's eyes out, stuffed in a duck that just ate a dog turd, that was stuffed in a turkey that did God know what??

I can sum it up in one phrase, NO THANK YOU!! I'm going to go & eat a burger!!
