Chip's Old Fashioned Hamburgers (Dallas)
Enjoy a Texas-sized feast of a big juicy burger (grab extra napkins), excellent fried shoestring onions, skin-on fries and a thick banana shake. There are other things on the menu, but the main attraction here is the delectable burger topped with mayo, mustard, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes and onion, served on a poppy seed bun. Always full, sometimes with a line that snakes out the door, Chip's is a burger-lover's paradise. Reading the complimentary newspapers will help you to avoid eye contact with the people in line hungrily eyeing your seat.

Have some crispy fries with BurgerMeister's killer classic hamburger.

BurgerMeister (San Francisco)
This classic, quality burger is an eight-ounce, hand-formed Niman Ranch beef patty flame-grilled to juicy perfection and served on a soft sesame seed bun. Garnish it simply with lettuce, tomato and red onion; fancy it up with mushrooms, sautéed onions, avocado, bacon or chili, or go tropical with mango or pineapple. Choose a side of crispy fries or cool cole slaw, and then wash it all down with an old-fashioned milk shake or a beer from the tap. Non-carnivores need not vacate the premises -- garden and portobello burgers also grace their menu.

Le Tub (Hollywood, Fla.)
Don't let the pool tables, fishing nets and license plates serving as décor distract you from savoring one of the meaty burgers at this tropical, modern-day sailor's joint -- where most patrons come by boat. Beer is more than a chaser here, it's part of the main course. When South Florida nights turn chilly, this is an idyllic destination thanks to an old wood-burning stove. Serious lounge lizards of every age and persuasion come to hang at Le Tub.

Shake Shack's concretes are the perfect conclusion to your meal.

Shake Shack (New York)
Restaurateur Danny Meyer took snack bar fare to another level with Shake Shack in Madison Square Park. Meyer (who has given us such highly esteemed eateries as Gramercy Tavern and Union Square Café) offers what are arguably the best burgers in the city. Concretes, dense frozen custard blended at high speed with various mix-ins, make for a memorable sweet treat (our favorite is the peanut butter, banana and hot fudge Concrete Jungle). Beer and wine is also available for quaffing at the tables surrounding the kiosk.
