In a city obsessed with food, Gary Danko, both chef and restaurant, enjoy a certain reverential status. Cheese and wine connoisseurs are especially fond of both Dankos as well. With the imminent opening of his more casual An American Brasserie, he remains at the forefront of the Bay Area dining scene. Contemporary Cal-French fare is served prix-fixe-style only; many dishes rotate depending on the season, but certain signatures, like roasted lobster, stay on year round.

Cyrus is often credited with putting Sonoma County on the culinary map and making it worthy of a side trip from an epicurean adventure in neighboring Napa. Chef Douglas Keane and maître d' Nick Peyton's Asian-French restaurant is serious business, as evidenced by the four tasting-menu-only ordering options, the gentle rolling of caviar and mignardise dessert carts and nearly 50-page wine list.
